The wait is over, According to the news, BCCI has confirmed the dates and venue of IPL Mega Auction 2022. It will be held on the 12th and 13th of February 2022 in Bangalore.
IPL is a festival for cricket lovers worldwide. With the help of IPL, there are thousands of players whose dreams came true. Again IPL is ready to bring some new talents from the Mega Auction 2022. Also, the excitement level will increase because, in the list of IPL 2022 Teams, two new names Ahmedabad & Lucknow are added.
Everybody is awaited to know the lucky two new teams’ Captain names and can they win the trophy of IPL 2022. The race of chasing players is more interesting to watch IPL Final matches. The list of retained players has been submitted by the teams according to the BCCI rule any 4 players can be retained in which a maximum of 2 overseas players can be retained and a maximum of 3 Indian players can be retained from capped or uncapped. This makes way for the other teams to bid on big names. Most of the team already plan their player retention list so they can bid on the other players.
This mega auction helps teams to rebuild and find stronger players in their teams. There are big names that are also available to pick from all franchises from the world of cricket
What is a Mega Auction?
Every four years, all IPL franchises have to release their players so other teams can bid on them.
BCCI plans for a mega Auction when they need it. It helps to create more competition between the players and teams.
Retention Rules of IPL Mega Auction 2022
- A team can retain a maximum of 3 capped or uncapped Indian players along with 2 maximum number of overseas players but total players can not exceed four.
- Two new IPL teams can pick any 3 capped or uncapped Indian players with 1 overseas player before the mega auction 2022.
- New teams can pick up only one overseas player.
- RTM (Right to match) has been removed from the IPL Mega auction 2022.
- It has been clearly confirmed that a team can not keep more than two uncapped players.
Player Retention Salary Cap
BCCI has confirmed that teams have a limited budget to offer salaries for the players. They were prohibited from offering under the salary cap.
- Retained players 4 then 42 Crore will be deducted from the purse.
- Retained players 3 then 33 Crore will be deducted from the purse.
- Retained players 2 then 24 Crore will be deducted from the purse.
- Retained players 1 then 14 Crore will be deducted from the purse.

BCCI has added two new teams after 6 years, and various new players are also introduced for the Mega auction of IPL 2022.
RP Sanjiv Goenka group won the bid for the Lucknow franchise worth 7090 Crore and CVC Capital Partners won the bid for Ahmedabad worth 5625 Crore.

Squad Strength in Mega Auction IPL 2022
According to the BCCI, a team can pick up a maximum of 25 players and a minimum of 18 players. In this squad a minimum of 8 international/ overseas players are compulsory. This 25 players list includes both capped and uncapped players from India. These guidelines will be followed in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Although the BCCI can change these rules till the Auction date.

According to the official comments by BCCI, IPL 2022 might start somewhere around the 2nd of April 2022.
